The final concert cycle of the season opens with Mozart's Divertimento K. 136. NYCP also premieres Wei-Chieh Lin's Double concerto for Violin, Cello and String orchestra commissioned by NYCP. Under the baton of Dongmin Kim, NYCP introduces Mendelssohn’s early and joyful work, String Sinfonia No. 2, and one of best known string masterpieces of Bohemian identity, Suite for String Orchestra by Leoš Janácek.

The 2013-2014 season kicks off with one of today's most talented rising violinists Sean Lee as he performs Mozart's Violin Concerto No. 5. The NYCP highlights Wagner's bicentenary celebration with one of the composer's best known masterworks, Prelude to "Tristan and Isolde" masterfully transcribed for string orchestra by Yoomi Paick. This season opening cycle also introduces award winning composer Vivian Fung's String Sinfonietta, and one of Mozart's late compositions, the Adagio and Fugue.

The NYCP takes to the stage with some of their best young instrumentalists to perform all four violin concertos including two double concertos by J. S. Bach. Also included in the program is Alexandra du Bois’ innovative new composition, Noctilucent Song for String Orchestra commissioned by NYCP. The 2012-2013 season opens with one of the most gifted young pianists of today, Ji-Yong, and trumpeter of the Canadian Brass, Chris Coletti, featuring Shostakovich’s monumental Piano Concerto No.1 with the NYCP under the direction of Music Director, Dongmin Kim. This cycle also offers Respighi’s Ancient Airs and Dances No. 3 and Kyunga Caroline Ahn’s Around Us commissioned by the NYCP. Britten’s Simple Symphony completes the program.

Two of the greatest compositions ever written, Wagner’s Prelude to Tristan and Isolde and Mahler’s transcription of Schubert’s Death and the Maiden, are assembled under the leadership of the NYCP music director, Dongmin Kim.
